Museum of General J. V. Gurko
(the village Sakharov, Tverskoi Region, 2008)

Before the revolution there was the  family coat  museum of Romeyko-Gurko in the temple of Volockiy Joseph. After 1917, the estate was nationalized, the remains of the general and his wife were lost.
The monument to Gourko was established in Sakharovo in 1983.

In September 2008 the museum of general Joseph Gourko was opened in the village of Sakharovo of Tversskoi region. The opening of the museum was dedicated to two memorable events: the 130-th anniversary of Bulgaria's liberation and the 180-th anniversary of the birth of the hero of Bulgaria and the Russian general.
In 2004, the  charitable foundation named after general Gourko has been created in Tver’.  
In 2007, the remains of the general and his wife were found, and solemnly reburied in the renovated shrine (September 22, 2011).
