Monument to Pavel Kalitin (Holm, Novgorod Region)

The monument to  P. Kalitin was opened in August 4, 2007 in Holm of  Novgorod region. The monument was unveiled in the framework of the events dedicated to the celebration the 160-th anniversary of the birth of P. Kalitina. It was erected at the junction of October and P.P.Kalitina Streets.
The monument was made in Bulgaria. At the initiative of the mayor of Stara Zagora Mr. Zhelev has established a special fund to collect donations for the monument. The official delegation from the city of Stara Zagora attended in the opening ceremony of the monument. A great help in the installation of the monument was provided by the chairman of the Slavic cultural and information center "Eurasia-Bulgaria" L. Vilkovim.
The authors of the monument – the professor B. Kazaev and the  architect B. Volkov.
Description of the monument:
The height of the monument to Kalitin is 4.5 meters, the  wide at the base - 1.5 meters. The granite monument resembles an Orthodox cross and, like the crucified Christ, there is the  bronze portrait of  Kalitin in the its center. On the memorial slab the words of a poet Hristo Botev are engraved – «Who died fighting for freedom is not dead.»
One of the most significant events of the opening ceremony of the monument to Kalitin was the transfer of the  copy of the Samara flag as a gift to Holm. This is the copy of the battle flag, created in 1876 in the Iverskiy monastery of Samara.
On one side, in the center of the embroidered in gold Orthodox cross - Kirill and Mefodiy, the Bulgarian and Slavic educators, on the other - the image of the Iverskoi Mother of God. The  copy of the banner is committed to the fund of the Museum of Holm.
